Corndog
A systems thinker with a poet’s heart, following inspiration wherever it leads.
Courtney is an idealistic explorer and tenacious problem-solver shaped by a multicultural upbringing and loving family in the PNW. With a background in engineering, most of her professional experience has involved helping navigate complex organizational challenges in local government and aerospace manufacturing. Courtney is now channeling her analytical mind and deep emotional sensitivity into co-authoring a fantasy fiction trilogy that explores human potential, meaning, and connection. Guided by curiosity, intention, and trust in life’s unfolding, she goes wherever inspiration carries her. At her core, she is driven by a desire to experience and create joy, make the most of the gifts of life, and choose love over fear.
Courtney Joy Seto

Place of Origin/Residence: Born in Southwest Washington State, she called the Pacific Northwest (Washington/Oregon) home for 30 years of her life. She now lives wherever inspiration carries her, considering “home” a state of consciousness rather than a physical place.
Occupation/Career:
Current:
Co-author of a fantasy fiction trilogy (in-progress)
Previous:
Helped local and state governments in the Pacific Northwest solve complex problems to improve organizational effectiveness and efficiency. Favorite projects included helping her home county pioneer a low-income assistance program for solid waste and recycling services in the area; Partnering with her home county to design a more equitable and transparent approach for distributing funds across collaborating city and nonprofit libraries; Learning the intricacies of state energy facility permitting to identify opportunities to improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness. (5 years)
Took on a variety of roles at an aerospace manufacturing company, all of which involved coordinating across multiple teams with multiple interests toward common objectives, communicating information across a broad range of audiences, and developing solutions to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency. (3.5 years)
Other odd jobs: Interned at another aerospace manufacturing company and a tech consulting firm, tutored math for pre-engineering students in college, participated in projects to optimize operations in healthcare settings as a student, chatted with and served food to elders at a retirement center, made smoothies (and occasionally twirled a sign while wearing a banana suit).
Socioeconomic Status: Parents didn’t have money but compensated with love. Relied on scholarships and grit to get through college. Grinded hard to earn gradual salary increases which enabled her to obtain the resources needed to fulfill her desire to see the world and buy time to pursue a lifelong dream.
Education: B.S. with Honors in Industrial & Systems Engineering from University of Washington
Personality & Traits:
Personality Traits: Shamelessly corny, romantically optimistic, and passionately driven. Though eager to explore all the world has to offer, she also finds peace in stillness. Great at going with the flow, but equally adept at making intricate plans and bringing them to fruition. Deeply sentimental and apt to cry tears of joy as much as sadness. Confident and courageous in a quiet sort of way – speaks her truth even if it makes the situation uncomfortable, pursues big dreams in the face of resistance, and chooses unconditional love in a world brimming with fear and judgement.
Strengths & Weaknesses:
Strengths: Turning complex problems into manageable steps, connecting ideas to reveal the bigger picture, crafting meaningful metaphors, bridging the gap between aspiration and reality, not taking things personally, seeing the good in others, practicing forgiveness, solving puzzles and recognizing patterns, listening to understand, asking thoughtful questions, and continuously learning.
Weaknesses: Focusing when her external environment is in disarray, declining invitations of any kind from love-ones, most activities that require athletic ability (though still enjoys them), refraining from attempting to solve other people’s problems without solicitation, finding the line between being sufficiently prepared and overanalyzing a situation, allowing self-deprecating thoughts to live in the shadows of her mind.
Motivations: Purpose in life is to experience and create joy for herself and others. On a mission to fulfill her childhood dream of writing a story to help awaken others to their own potential. Fueled by a desire to repay her family and the world for all that she has received. Drawn by curiosity to any experiences that may result in a deeper understanding of herself and the Universe.
Fears & Phobias: Judgment and disappointment, which can make public speaking or sharing creative work challenging. Failure to meet her own expectations. Losing her sense of self. Not making the most of the precious gift of time – with loved ones, experience life, to fulfill her goals.
Habits: Starts the morning with qigong and meditation. Carries at least 3 journals at all times and writes in them every day. Prefers writing scenes by hand outside in nature, a bustling coffee-shop, or cozy library nook. Has a stock of cards handy to write thank-you notes for any occasion and does so regularly. Drinks at least 4 glasses of water at seated restaurants (waiters love her). Hums random tunes to dispel displeasing thoughts.
Likes & Dislikes:
Likes: Deep-diving existential topics (philosophy, quantum physics, consciousness, spirituality), getting lost in a story, making people feel seen, experiencing life with Tim, creating meaningful memories with loved ones, traveling to broaden her perspective, witnessing people pursue and achieve their dreams, playing complex games, finding order in chaos, observing nature’s beauty, and reflecting on the lessons woven into life and the Universe.
Dislikes: When people suffer because they are oblivious to their true potential, when people take their suffering out on other people, filling silence with shallow conversation because of some nonsensical social obligation. When Tim gorges on snacks resulting in excretion of profuse flatulence in small, enclosed areas.
Values & Beliefs:
Our reality is comprised of infinite opposites – day/night, joy/sorrow, courage/fear, challenge/ease, separation/unity, etc. One cannot exist without the other and each is part of something greater. It is in the ebb and flow between these pairs that propels all of life forward. With intention, intuition, and trust, we can live in harmony with the currents of the Universe.
